The Main Ways that Technology Impacts Our Everyday Lives

There is no getting around the fact that technology has had a huge impact on all of our lives and continues to have as such. Throughout the entire 21st Century, the amount that technology has developed has led to it being a massive influence in all of our lives.

This includes how we live on a day-to-day basis and how we do our work. These changes were already coming into play anyway, but the pandemic made us all speed up and embrace the digital revolution with open arms. It is worth taking a moment to reflect on the different ways that we currently rely on technology that we didn’t a couple of decades ago.

We Can Communicate With One Another Much More Effectively

It makes you wonder whether Alexander Graham Bell knew just how much of a huge effect his invention would have on the way we communicated with one another when he spoke the first words muttered through the telephone, “Come here Watson, I need to see you.” Sure, he might have known he had made communication simpler, but to the scale that it has developed? That’s unlikely.

Now we are using the phone to communicate with each other all the time, with what was initially just calling is now done by text. More so than that as well, we are using our mobile phones as a means of communication thanks to video calling. Granted, the concept isn’t exactly anything new, but in recent years, it has become a much more pivotal part of a lot of our lives. This is because people began using it for work and also to stay in touch with loved ones when they were unable to leave their property throughout lockdown. The increased usage can be seen in the rise in the popularity of video calling apps such as Zoom and House Party.

The amount we use technology as a means of communication really came as a saving grace throughout the pandemic and is an excellent representation of the benefits that these advancements in technology can lead to.

Gaming is Much More Accessible Than It Used to Be

Previously, when people used to want to get into gaming, they used to have a lot of money to buy the most up-to-date consoles that were available. This meant that gaming was not as accessible as people would have liked because of the fact some simply couldn’t afford to purchase the high-end software that was necessary to do so. Now though, things are much more different.

The difference comes in the fact that as the technology that has gone into our mobile devices gets better and better, there has been a huge increase in the number of people that have started getting into gaming through their phones. Most people these days have a smartphone and as such, getting into gaming by downloading different titles from the app store is a lot easier for people.

This is only likely to become more and more mainstream as well as 5G is rolled out across the world. As gaming gets more popular, so too does competitive gaming. If you are one of the people who love competitive gaming but don’t have a console, soon you will be able to play on the go as 5G will offer better speeds than a lot of WIFI routers.

Working From Home is Much Easier

This is another realization that was spurred on as a result of the pandemic. As businesses everywhere were forced to close, people from all around the country were told that they had to begin working from home if they could. This meant many organizations scrambled in order to get the software downloaded onto laptops that allowed their employees to continue doing their jobs from the comfort of their own homes.

What was once seen as a temporary solution has been thoroughly embraced by everybody, resulting in the fact that there are many people who intend on continuing working from home, despite the fact offices are back up and running. There are a lot of big businesses around the world that are going to continue to encourage staff to work from home if they so wish as not only do employees seem to benefit from it, but businesses save money on not needing to rent as big an office space either.

None of this would be possible were it not for technological advancements, specifically, the ability to download and share files with one another through a cloud-like server. This means that people have the ability to consider information for any question they are asked about their job, regardless of where in the world the person being asked the question is.

Conclusion

Technology is a massive part of all of our lives now, and there is no getting away from that. It has developed a great amount in the past few decades to the point that it allows us to communicate with people all over the world as if they were right next to us. It also allows for the likes of gaming and also working from home.

A lot of these revelations have been realized due to the pandemic, which changed the way we socialize, do our jobs, and enjoy our spare time. The above is a great breakdown of the key ways in which technology continues to have an influence over our lives. Still, it doesn’t stop there as it is also responsible for us being able to track our health better, live social lives through the internet, shop, and do so many more amazing things.
