Everyone needs their transportation. Having a car, SUV or truck just makes it easier for people to get around. If you are driving a vehicle you should keep up your automobile’s maintenance schedule. Below are some practical tips to keep your vehicle running smoothly for many miles.
Use your Manual after you Purchase your Car
Make sure to use your car manual and follow its advice. This is extremely important because your manual will tell you what you must do to keep your vehicle running smoothly. If you don’t have a manual, then download the type you will need for your automobile from the internet. All automobile manufacturers, owners and tech guys typically upload vehicle manuals for drivers. This way owners will be able to provide the best care for their car.
Checking your car’s fluids is essential to having a smooth-running vehicle. Cars need fluids to remain cool and to run efficiently. If you do not put fluids into your vehicle or if they get too low, you’re going to literally pay to have this problem fixed. Make sure your vehicle has enough clean and fresh oil, adequate brake fluid and a recommended amount of transmission fluid as mentioned over here.
You should also maintain your radiator fluid, washer fluid, power steering fluid and AC coolant. Each of these fluids are essential for long life and car performance. If you slack on keeping them balanced or you’re not putting them in your vehicle – then your vehicle will not last long.
Check that Muffler on a Regular Basis
Mufflers muffle the sound of a loud engine and moving car parts. They also get rid of exhaust. If your muffler is broker or not performing up to par, then you will have a loud sounding vehicle. This will definitely ruin your dreams of having a smooth ride. Inspect your muffler and make sure it’s in good condition.
Oil Changes are for Winners
Frequently changing the oil on your car keeps it running longer and better. A loser doesn’t value their transportation and won’t change their oil at all. Most auto manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 3,000 miles. If you do a lot of driving, then change the oil more frequently. What you don’t want to do is allow your oil to black or even turn to sludge. Yes, I have seen neglected vehicles where the oil hasn’t been changed in a year. Your car will lock up on you and it won’t be driveable. Frequently change your oil to maintain your winning status and to keep your vehicle running smoothly.
Tire Care Inflate, Rotate and Balance
Properly inflate your tires, this will give you a smoother ride and it will save you more money on gas. All your tires should be balanced to a specified air level. Have your tires rotated and balanced to ensure that each wheel is performing optimally. Your vehicle will waste gas, get less mileage and cause you to have a bad trip when you are driving around town.
Give a Spark to your Spark Plugs
Miss firing spark plugs will keep your vehicle from running smoothly. Make sure your spark plugs are firing like they should. You should read your manual to figure out when to change your spark plugs. Most spark plugs need to be changed at least every 30,000 miles. However, with newer vehicles that number could be every 100,000 miles because the technology is so advance. Difficulty starting, car feeling sluggish when driving and bad fuel economy are all signs that your spark plugs are bad and your car isn’t running smoothly.
