  • Ask simple questions. The world always seems complicated, but as with everything, not every challenge requires a complex solution. It’s crucial to keep your approach addressed to the problem in question to avoid losing context. You should do a preliminary background on what you know, how you know of the issue, your reasons for disapproving, proving, or critiquing, what you must be overlooking, etc.
  • Question simple assumptions. You can often go wrong by failing to question some of the simple assumptions you make. Imagine the brilliant innovations existing today and how the innovators who came up with them went against the general human assumptions of how things function. Questioning assumptions arrived at either by others or yourself can help you innovate new ways and overcome challenges presented.
  • Become aware of your mental faculties and processes. In as much as the human thought can prove amazing, the automation and speed of thinking can disadvantage the critical thought process. The human brain uses heuristics in explaining the happenings around someone’s environment, which can prove disadvantageous when thinking critically in trying to solve problems. Becoming aware of your prejudices or cognitive biases can help transform your ability to think critically.
  • Endeavor to try and reverse things for you to get solutions on difficult problems. It can seem obvious on the chronology of issues at first, but in trying to reverse the chronology, it can prove a coup in finding solutions for the same problem, for instance, the chicken and the egg issue.
  • Evaluate the present evidence to get insights on how to go about solving an issue or problem that you face. You always get a head-start using other people’ work within the same niche instead of starting from scratch. However, critically evaluate the information to reach correct conclusions.
  • Ponder for yourself and avoid getting carried away with reading and researching other people’s work. By becoming independent in thinking regardless of the work available and different opinions currently existing to have unique and efficient solutions to problems. But remember to avoid becoming overconfident while coming up with your resolutions.
  • Comprehend the fact that not a single individual thinks critically every time. Everyone can get episodes of irrational or undisciplined thought at some point, and this, therefore, means that critical thinking can never prove universal one hundred percent. All you need to do entails realizing the lapses in judgment when you have them and on how to avoid these lapses in the future.
